Eid Celebrations


Eid-ul-Fitr Celebration 2013

Eid marks the end of the month of Ramadan, the month whereby it is obligatory for Muslims to fast from dusk to dawn during this month. At this day, the entire Muslim community gather to thank God and congratulate each other for keeping fast the entire month. The day is typically spent visiting friends and family and enjoying time together. MMS commemorates its annual Eid event for all Muslim and Non-Muslim students at Massey University, aiming to provide a common platform for all Muslim students at Massey University to share the joy and enhance understanding of this religious event among non-Muslim communities at Massey University.

This event was held on the 18th of August 2013 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Community Leisure Centre. All members were invited along with their families. Massey University representatives were also invited to be a part of this occasion. 

A mix of approximately 200 members and Massey University representatives gathered for the MMS Eid Celebration 2013. This event was began with the Qur’an recitation and translation, followed by a speech from the president of MMS regarding the activities that MMS carried out during the month of Ramadan and explaining about the role of MMS. This was followed by a speech about the essence of celebration Eid and wrapped up with some prize giving to dedicated volunteers. Games and activities were also held for the children in a separate room.
